In Their Own Words:

“I’m very thankful that we chose Essential Audio to equip our new worship space with lighting, sound, and visual components. Ben and his team were very easy to work with from the moment we began talking until the job was completed.”

Boro City Church

Background:

Trevor Atwood and Jeremy Young planted Boro City church in Murfreesboro, TN with the goal of being the church that reaches people who aren’t looking for a church. For its first few years, Boro City held services at a downtown music venue and recording studio. Due to rapid growth, however, they quickly outgrew that space. Trevor and Jeremy found a building just a few blocks from their original meeting place that had previously housed a martial arts studio. They secured a lease on the building and then set out to find the best solution to retrofit and ready the space for services.

Project Goals:

The new building was basically a shell. In addition to bathrooms being updated and classrooms being built out, the worship space had to be finished and outfitted with production technology, starting from scratch. Because the building was leased and so much had to be done, it was critical to strike the balance between cost-effectiveness and long-term viability in the AVL system design.

Solution

The sound system includes an X32 console, QSC PLD4.5 processing amplifier, and a stereo pair of Danley Synergy Horn Loudspeakers, supplemented by a single TH118 Subwoofer. Band members use the X32 app on their smartphones to control individual in-ear mixes. A Tascam 8-channel wired headphone amplifier resides in the amp rack on stage and provides a cost-effective solution for in-ear monitoring.

A single ETC Smart Bar dimmer with 10 ETC Source 4 Par’s provide the stage wash. Leviton Par 38 fixtures populated with Lighting Science LED lamps are a cost-effective design for house lighting that can be moved when the church outgrows this facility. Because the LED lamps consume a relatively small amount of current, all of the house lights can be powered by a single 1200W dimmer channel on the SmartBar.

A 10′ wide screen suspended above center stage displays a 1080P HD image from a Vivitek DLP Projector and provides for sufficient visibility across the entire seating area. HD signal distribution is via Blackmagic Design SDI converters.
